Review: SnM Season 3: The Devils Toybox Chapter 4: Beyond the Alley of the Dolls
Written by HippyDave

Phew, part 4 down, and the reviews get tougher: crazier shenanigans and ever more convoluted plot threads litter our latest chapter, with extra Cthulhu references and finally a feeling that all story elements are coming together. But I digress.

Nelson Tethers is the lead agent (or, indeed, the only agent) in the U.S. Department of Puzzle Research, and has been called upon to solve the mystery of the small town of Scoggins. The town´s eraser factory has been locked down and the US President himself is going to be without his favourite stationery item unless Agent Tethers can save the day!

Another month, another chapter in the quite frankly excellent Sam and Max season 3, this time titled: They Stole Max´s Brain! Following on directly from the last chapter, the game picks up with Max a mere empty shell of his former self, with Sam driven to the point of despair by his best friends affliction. With Sam becoming a rage-filled nightmare, and Max (and all his psychic powers) seemingly lost forever, will our duo be able to save the day yet again from evil masterminds bent on the power of The Devils Toybox?

Sam and Max season 3: Episode 2: The Tomb of Sammun-Mak review

Sam and Max are back, hot on the heels of their last adventure in "The Penal Zone", with part 2 of their madcap adventures, "The Tomb of Sammun-Mak". Following on the previous episodes Twilight-Zone-meets-cheesy-sci-fi motif from the last episode, TTSM this time aims its sights squarely at old movies of a different nature, by picking apart horror and adventure serials. Think Indiana Jones meets Boris Karloff, and you are on the right lines.

SnM01

So Telltale, still on a roll from last year´s excellent Tales of Monkey Island, have released the first part of the next season of Sam and Max. This time around, the writers have set their sights firmly on the paranormal, evidenced by the "Twilight Zone"-style narrator, as well as cults, alien invasion and psychic powers. The first episode starts at the end, allowing the player to get a feel for where the story is heading, before jumping back to previous events to set the scene.

Review: Metro 2033

So soon after reviewing STALKER, I wasn´t sure whether this was going to be the best game for me - Russian nuclear aftermath? Check. Weird mutant creatures? Check. Grim remains of humanity doing what they have to for survival? Check, double check, underlined. I will admit, I wasn´t convinced that Metro was going to offer a great difference, and that I would suffer from "seen-it-all-before" syndrome, so I made a conscious effort to try to play with fresh eyes.

Review: Napoleon: Total War
Written by Umar Ahmed

For once a game lives up to its name. Napoleon: Total War indeed! Right from the get go this is one of the most intense total war games we’ve ever played. Napoleon: Total War picks up where Empire left off. It is the late 1700s, a young artillery general by the name of Napoleon is making waves across Europe with victory after victory over what seem to be an endless stream of foes and armies. But it is only when he becomes Emperor that the rest of Europe really starts taking notice. That’s where the fun really begins.
