Change in Scores for Video Games
Written by Adazz
Tuesday, 29 September 2009 21:41

Due to the advancements and multi dimensional elements involved in video games, we have decided to switch to a scale out of 10 on our video game scores. We feel that a wider scale would allow us to better help you, our readers, to distinguish between the games.

To further aid our readers to understand our scores, we have updated the following guidelines.

  • A score from 1 to 3 are for games that are full of glitches or hardly playable that make it very frustrating to play. In addition this would also include titles that lack any "fun" factor and make us wonder if they should be called a video "game"
  • A score from 4 to 5 are for games that have a few good elements but are unfortunately overshadowed by many poor elements. This could also include games that are not inspiring and give a rather mundane experience. Any hardcore fans of the genre should definitely try the demo or consider renting before deciding to buy the game.
  • A score from 6 to 7  are for games that are good and have some exciting elements but there are other factors that are flawed or not well done. These games could also be repetitive or those that provide a "been there, done that" type of experience. We would recommend that these games been rented to wait for them to hit the bargain bins.
  • A score from 8 to 9 are for games that are great but have some minor issues that hamper the overall experience. These could also include games that do not feel entirely polished or those that fail to provide move the genre forward.
  • A score of 10 is reserved for games that are truly epic. This could include games that truly revolutionize the genre and are very polished. These are the type of games that would be enjoyed by people that are not fans of the genre of the game.
With all that said, these are only guidelines and not something we will follow like rule of law. There are many factors that can effect the score of a particular game. Therefore we always recommend that you read our whole review and even try out the demo before passing judgement. As humans we all have personal preferences therefore there are always elements that would appeal to one person but might be disliked by another.

Batman Arkham Asylum for $38.83 on release day in Canada
Written by Adazz

Update: BestBuy Canada through their twitter account has announced that they will also be selling it for $38.83. The discount price at BestBuy will last for 3 daysl.

We as Canadians are accustomed to getting the shaft when it comes to deals and pricing in general when compared to our neighbours in the south. Video game retailers have taken advantage of the fluctuations of the economy and the resulting exchange rate by pushing up the price of new video games by $10 to $69.99. But it is welcoming to see that a highly anticipated title, Batman: Arkham Asylum will be selling for only $38.83 on launch date at certain retailers.

The price reduction was initiated by Walmart, who are also offering an exclusing Batman armour.  Not to be out done, certain EB Games and GameStop stores have decided to price match Walmart's offer. Remember the offer is only for the day of release that is August 25, 2009.

PlayStation 3 Slim With Pictures
Written by Adazz
Tuesday, 18 August 2009 15:23

Today at GamesCon, Sony has announced the long rumoured PlayStation 3 Slim. The PlayStation 3 Slim is going to be 33 percent smaller, 36 percent lighter and will use 34% less power. This is a significant change. The PS3 Slim will support a 120GB hard disk and will retail for $299. Effective immediately, Sony has reduced the price of the original PS3 to $299 as well. However considering that the original and the slim are expected to be at the same price, bargain hunters may want to wait till the release of the PS3 Slim, as one would expect the original model would have to be cheaper to convince consumers to buy the that instead of the new Slim.

Market analysts expect Microsoft to phase out the Xbox 360 pro unit and expect the Xbox 360 Elite (120 GB) to be priced down to $299 as well. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft will try to make it even cheaper to compete with the PS3 Slim as the former lacks the Blu-Ray drive.

Written by Adazz
Wednesday, 29 July 2009 16:48

With the release of Marvel vs Capcom 2 on XBLA, Capcom has released a music video and mix tape track listing. The music video is from the track "Superheroes" by Planet Asia and DJ Toure.

For a change Capcom has finally decided to give something free. The Mix Tape will be made available for download soon.

For the curious, the ego-istic and general fighting gamer enthusiastics, by the end of today, Capcom will be releasing  www.tu4ar.com. More details on the tracker can be found here. The tracker tracks statistics of the last 20 teams you have played with.

It is refreshing to see this much support for an XBLA title. Then again they know these will be selling like hot cup cakes on a cold winter morning.

The Music Video and Mix Tape track listing can be found after the break:
