CIA officer, Evelyn Salt thought her life would go back to normal after being rescued from the North Koreans and taking a desk job. But on her last day before switching positions, a Russian accuses her of being a Russian spy and part of a grandiose scheme to restore the Russian Federation to its pre Cold War glory. Salt goes on the run, though the tactics she uses to evade capture and find out more about the mysterious Russian spy leave you wondering whether she is a good guy or not.

Ho Hum…

If the Bourne Identity and Hitman had kids that turned into a sequel, Salt would be it. The plot is so ludicrous its neither funny nor believable. The action is passable, and no, there are no skin scenes with Angelina Jolie to make the rest of the movie bearable for some.

If assassinating world leaders and breaking into the White House was that easy, we would’ve seen nuclear apocalypse by now, but Salt asks viewers to put quite a bit of faith in the abilities (or lack thereof) in the world’s super agents, spies, and security forces. Most absurd of all, the film tries to recreate a post Cold War mentality that, even with the recent Ana Chapman fiasco, just isn’t interesting or very believable.

Although the movie does have its share of over the top action, it simply does not fitting as the movie takes itself seriously.

Final Word:

A dull Cold War action film best left to the dvd bin at your local Blockbuster. Salt is just another poorly done spy movie.
