The story line continues from GRAW 1. The graphics have been polished up a bit more but the difficulty level and the complexity of the game seem to have been lowered. The Game Play: If you are not familiar with the gameplay of GRAW released earlier, the game play elements are very different from the previous in the Ghost Recon series. Where previously it was about tactically sneaking behind enemy lines and getting the job as quietly and quickly as possible, GRAW 1 & 2 are more action oriented and causing a lot of noise while doing it. GRAW employs a solid cover system which operates very similarly to that of Gears of War. In addition you are given a series of high tech gadgets and other utilities (tanks, helicopters etc...) to aid you in your missions. Fans of the original GRAW maybe disappointed in that the difficulty has been notched down a lot. You do not really need to use these extra utilities to beat the game anymore. You can pretty much go in guns blazing. At the same time people like me that are more into action oriented games when compared to tactical shooters, prefer this one to its predecessor. Because of its more linear apporach the campaign can be finished in under 10 hours. The weapons in the game are diversed, ranging from the different sets of automatic weapons, to sniper rifles and grenade launchers. As you go along you get access to better weapons. Presentation: Although the game is over a year old, the graphics are one of the best I've seen on the xbox 360. Almost everything that you perceive as destructable, is so. The sound effects and music components in the game are exceptional and complement the graphics in giving you the real feel of the environment and situation. Multiplayer: This game has a wide vareity of multiplayer types from deathmatch, team death match and zone control. However for the multiplayer aspect they have removed the cover system. In addition you no longer have access to the utilities giving it a simpler feel than the more complex single player. Moral of the story? It has to be pointed out, this game if anything is right winged and seems to justify actions that would seem questionable. In the majority of the game, your role is a ghost, a military presence in Mexico that is denied by the US governemt. The game justifies (a) US intereference with situations of other countries and (b) the covert ops military presence in other countires while "officially" denying its involvement. Both of which that can be deemed to be highly questionable. Final word: The game boasts a solid single player campaign that feels unique in the over populated FPS market. However you are probably better of playing CoD4 for multiplayer as GRAW fails to set itself apart in the multiplayer section. |
